For the ones who have been trolling the smartphone market for the smaller screened devices which seem to have been disappearing as of late, there could be one in 2016 and such will come from Apple.

The word out is that Apple is working on a 4-inch sized display device that will most likely append the old iPhone 5s. Though Apple has yet to officially hint at such from happening, there are some who believe that the next device could be the long clamored successor to the forgotten iPhone 5c.

There have been a couple of name cropping up on the rumored device. Some are branding it as the iPhone 6c, iPhone 6sc, iPhone 7c or making things simple, the iPhone 7 Mini.

If true, this veers away from the large-screen sized devices of Apple, the iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6S Plus in particular. There is further belief that these are the budget-friendly devices coming out in the open though expect a drop in specifications to meet that requirement.

That would probably cover a drop in screen resolution seeing that such could play a critical role in the longevity of the device as far as standby and on the go use is concerned.

The A9 processor to be used will most likely still be the same as the one used by the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus though some features like the 3D touch, could be taken out.

Speaking of power, the size could hinder the kind of battery that Apple may use as well. With a smaller make, the company could use a slightly smaller battery that in all accounts for the need to make key changes to its other components (such as the display resolution mentioned earlier on).

Would it be wise to release a smaller iPhone variant?

The sudden shift in phablet-like devices is apparent, but the fact remains that not everyone is fine carrying a large-screened device. With the large make, some have been forced to carry it on their palms compared to the older iPhone models (the last of which was the iPhone 5s) that could be easily slid into pockets or bags without worrying about possible breaks.

More to that, there is the price factor to consider if there are indeed 4-inch iPhones coming out in 2016. With iPhones known to cost a heap, a smaller rendition will certainly be more affordable when compared to the current iPhone variants out in the market.

Hence, an iPhone 7 mini or whatever name it may carry will still get its share of interested buyers, particularly the ones who simply want to get a feel of the iOS experience with not much emphasis on the special features that advanced iPhone models carry to date.
