If you're looking for a phone that's not exactly as big as a tablet but not as small as a phablet, perhaps a 6-incher is the answer.
Based on a recent leak, it also appears Samsung may think so too.
"A listing for the SM-A9000 found on Zauba reveals that the Galaxy A9 will be employing a 6-inch screen," Phone Arena relayed. "The device was imported into India on November 3rd and November 4th for testing."
Currently, Samsung has not announced the successor of the Galaxy A8 just yet, but rumors of the next version continue to swirl, nevertheless. Despite this smartphone series not being the flagship one or even a well-known model, this line of handsets is notable for being the first equipped with metal. And with mid-range features, some could regard it as a decent alternative to the more expensive flagship option.
Samsung fans may, however, be eyeing the A series more closely recently as the A8 had come with "a decent mix of higher-end and mid-range specs to satisfy a wide range of consumers," according to Digital Trends. As such, it has been speculated that the A9 may also have a similar combination, or even better.
"As recently as last month, rumored specs for the Galaxy A9 included a 5.5-inch screen, with a resolution of 1080 x 1920," Phone Arena recalled. "The Zauba website obviously puts that into question."
"Under the hood is the Snapdragon 620 SoC, carrying an octa-core 1.8GHz CPU and the Adreno 510 GPU," the site went on to say. "3GB of RAM is inside, along with 32GB of non-expandable storage."
No information about the phone's camera has been leaked just yet, although it's been predicted that it may still be equipped with a 16MP camera, which is what is currently on the A8. The selfie snapper may be 5MP. Also, it's expected that the next model will still have a full-metal casing in keeping with its signature premium feel.
"Hopefully, Samsung will also keep the price tag of the Galaxy A9 at a competitive rate or at least somewhere near the A8's retail price of around $530," Tech Times noted. "Samsung may formally announce the handset in time before the holiday season begins."
Considering the A8 was announced in July, it's expected that the A9 may be announced around that time too. Right now, Samsung appears to be still working on the next iteration in the A series and is most likely to release it next year.
