The Xiaomi Mi5 has been quietly left out of the spotlight but if rumors hold true, it could just make a grand entrance and in time before the Holidays sink in.

Word has it that the highly awaited device could be unveiled by Dec. 3, a good one month from now. This of course remains up for debate due to the fact that many had anticipated the device to most likely hit shelves by early 2016 at the least.

One key feature that the Xiaomi Mi5 will reportedly feature is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. The curious thing about it is that the chipset hasn’t officially come out in the open and yet the upcoming device from Xiaomi will reportedly be sporting it.

To explain that angle, word about the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC on the Xiaomi Mi5 makes a bit of sense since the chipset is scheduled to come out in the open by Nov. 20.

Some of the capabilities of the Snapdragon 820 has already come out in the open back in September and among them include the fast LTE and WiFi data transfer speeds that devices will have to offer. All this was made possible with reports that the chipset will also include an X12 LTE modem.

While that should be something to look forward to, again, data speeds and transfer rates will still depend on the capabilities of the carrier where the phone will be hooked on to.

Other features to expect for the Xiaomi Mi5 include a 5.2-inch QHD display (2560x1440 pixels) which is likely tied up with the much-talked about pressure-sensitive screen from Synaptics. The display is believed to be something similar to the Force Touch on Huawei Mate S and the 3D Touch feature that the iPhone 6s carries.

The Xiaomi Mi 5i will be offered in two storage variants (16 GB and 32 GB) though there will be provisions for expansion via microSD. It will have a 16 MP main camera and front-facing 8 MP shooter and will come with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box.

Aside from that, other features mentioned as possibly appearing include a USB Type-C connector, Qualcomm’s sense ID as well as an ultrasonic fingerprint sensing technology for added security.

The available memory is still a mystery though based on the high specs, it may not be well over the usual 4GB RAM mark. The official specs should be out in the open soon, hopefully by Dec. 3 as rumored.
