The new box art for the upcoming DmC: Devil May Cry title has been unveiled.
However, the imagery of the new box art was not revealed by Capcom, but by NeoGaf. These covers are usually revealed by the company, but after the criticism that Irrational Games endured over their "generic" Bioshock Infinite cover, it is possible that the company sought to keep their box art a secret. The cover features the new look Dante wielding his two guns Ebony & Ivory against a white background.
A few publications have already criticized the art work including GameNGuide which stated that "As the game is a re-boot featuring a significantly younger Dante, maybe Capcom is offering a look at his akward teen years? If so, mission accomplished.."
Gameranx went even further and noted that "Capcom has oddly chosen just to portray the new-look Dante wielding Ebony & Ivory while trying to strike a pose. I said 'try' since I have no idea if he's supposed to look menacing, be dancing, running or whatnot. Also of note is that aside from the red streak, there's no background art whatsoever. "
The reveal also noted that players who purchase the "Son of Sparda" special edition will also receive Dante's Necklace, and a DLC Samurai Pack. In this DLC, players will wield "samurai devastators" rather than Dante's traditional weapons. Players who purchase the special edition will also get free upgrade points, offering a head start to players so that they can instantly upgrade weapons, combos and items once starting the game.
The demo is currently out for fans and the title launches on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on Jan. 15, in North America and Europe, followed by a PC release shortly thereafter.
