Will 'Tekken 7' be the Last in the Series? [Release Date, Gameplay & Rumors]

"Tekken 7" will mark the 20th anniversary of the series, and could possibly be the last in a long-lasting franchise.

The developer of the game Bandai Namco has already confirmed that "Tekken 7" will be the final installment of the Mishima story arc for the game. However, the video game giant has yet to reveal any other plans past the next installment. While this isn't unusual for developers, PC Advisor states that the Mishima family has been the focal point of the series for so long that it would be difficult to see the story progress any further without them in it.

While it is still up for debate if "Tekken 7" will be the last installment of the franchise, it is difficult to look past the in-depth story Bandai Namco has waiting for fans. According to Tech Times, a new Mishima will be joining the cast of fighters for "Tekken 7" in the form of Kazumi Mishima. Kazumi is allegedly the deceased wife of Heichachi Mishima and mother to Kazuya.

The manager of Bandai Namco's community, Gaetan Gireme, explained that Kazumi's story will be pivotal in understanding the ending of the conflict between Heichachi, Kazuya and Jin Kazama. Gireme goes onto explain that the mysteries behind the devil gene that both Kazuya and Jin possess will finally be explained and Kazumi is the key behind it all.

Gamewise, "Tekken 7" will also introduce new game mechanics as well as improved graphics via Unreal Engine. One of the biggest mechanics being introduced in the game will be what is called Rage Art. Rage Art is only usable after a character has taken critical damage and can deal up to 30 percent of the opponent's life. Another new feature introduced into the game is what is called Power Crush. Power Crush simply allows characters to extend combos even though they have been hit by an attack that has less frame data than the move they are currently doing. It acts as an armor buff of sorts.

Currently, "Tekken 7" is only available for arcade users in Japan, but Bandai Namco has confirmed that the game will first be released on the Playstation 4 console. However, there is still no word on when the game will be released outside of Japan or on the home systems.
