Motorola has confirmed that the much sought after Android 6.0 Marshmallow is headed the way of some Motorola devices soon though the actual release date has yet to be bared.

Among the devices lined up to get the Android 6.0 bump include the following:

  •  2015 Moto X Pure Edition (3rd gen)
  • 2015 Moto X Style (3rd gen)
  • 2015 Moto X Play, the 2015 Moto G (3rd gen)
  • 2014 Moto X Pure Edition in the US (2nd gen)
  • 2014 Moto X in Latin America, Europe and Asia2 (2nd gen)
  • 2014 Moto G
  • Moto G with 4G LTE2 (2nd gen)
  • DROID Turbo
  • 2014 Moto MAXX
  • 2014 Moto Turbo
  • Nexus 6

Is your Motorola device in the list? Well if not don’t worry since the company is most likely to append soon as advised through the company’s blog as far as making the latest Android 6.0 M available for other devices that may have not been included in the list.

Conspicuously absent from the list is the Moto E as well as the Moto G and Moto X first generation devices, apparently because these devices are already too old for the latest Android update. But there is a Moto E (Gen 2) that came out a few months ago so it could be a device that may be included soon once Motorola updates that list.

So what does Android 6.0 M for Motorola devices have to offer? Well one is that the update will see the removal of Moto Assist feature. Instead, the Android bump will instead render a Do Not Disturb option which can be found in the ‘sound and notification’ setting. The feature was originally under Moto Assist.

Aside from the Moto Assist, gone as well are the Motorola Migrate and the Google Chrome extensions on Motorola Connect.

Rather than the Moto Migrate which was meant to help users to easily transfer photos, videos, SIM contacts and call/text history from an Android device to a Motorola device, such will be covered by a new feature which provides support for backing up user data.

Motorola thus follows the lead of two other companies who have also announced Android 6.0 Marshmallow rollouts.

HTC has announced that they will be rolling out the update soon while LG has hinted of a possible Android 6.0 M update for its LG G3 and LG G4 linked up with an update to the support documents via its Korean website.
