Android Lollipop vs Marshmallow: What's Next & What's New

By now everyone knows that Google has started rolling out the Android Marshmallow 6.0, something that is expected to be present with latest Google devices, the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P.

Understandably, the two devices will be at the top of the heap to showcase what the latest Android OS has to offer with others expected to follow. Chances are that newer devices will be the first one to receive the Android bump though it cannot be said when they will actually be ready for application.

With the waiting game aside, the Android 6.0 M does seem like a vastly improved version if you thing about the Android Lollipop series.

Lots of bugs and issues apparently came with the Android OS predecessor. Despite that, it would still be wise to update to the most recent Android Lollipop version, addressing fears of that much talked about Stagefright bug which could compromise your device.

Looking forward however and assuming that Android 6.0 M does come around, what is there to look forward to? Well, a lot.

Aside from the expected improvements in design and displays, the most important of them all is perhaps the address on internal features that some Android smartphone users are missing out.

That includes stock features from devices such as the Nexus 2015 devices which carry the touted USB Type-C port which is normally tasked to handle phone charging and data transfers. The latest update comes with code updates that should account for better performance.

Android M also offers tighter security measures with reference on how one would allow apps to access to certain phone components and data. With the latest Android 6.0 M, users can now choose which apps they trust, somewhat similar to how Apple did it on their end.

The battery may be a big problem for most, but a Doze feature should address all that soon. With this option, all background processes will be cut as it places a device in Airplane mode when not in use. Despite being in that state, users will still receive call and text message notifications.

Tired of constantly clearing your phone memory for a better performing device? Well, Android 6.0 M will now be reminded which apps are eating up your device’s memory. This should come in handy for folks who don’t have that high of memory on their devices, something that could also help the phone battery to last longer.

There are other features as well like enabling Google Now on Tap and enhanced Fingerprint Security features for phones that have such to look forward to.

In general, the improvements seem to offer enhancements from inside, eventually making Android-run phones better to use with lesser worries on possible intrusions in the process.

The only question now is when Android 6.0 M will arrive having been released just Oct. 5. Until that time comes, make sure you have the latest Android OS available in your region to address potential bugs and threats.
