Nintendo and Bandai Namco seem to have a very neat surprise for Pokken Tournament fans and gamers.
In a recently uploaded footage by TrackTDGaming, an extra battle in the Japanese version of "Pokken Tournament" was shown featuring a new-look version of the popular Pokemon Mewtwo.
As what can be seen from the video, Mewtwo was given a darker look and was described as a "black Pokemon" in the game.
Initially appearing as a darker-colored Mewtwo with a strange orange crystal object in the left shoulder, however the new Mewtwo quickly transformed into full battle "mega form" which looks strong and really threatening.
Although Dark Mewtwo seemed to be utterly dominated by Gengar in the early part of the fight, its strength and damaging power were displayed when it got the chance to be on the attack, reducing the health of Gengar by less than half in just a matter of 10 seconds.
Nonetheless, the player eventually defeated Dark Mewtwo and pushed the Pokemon to retreat using Gengar's special attack.
Game Rant reported that the new evolution of Mewtwo is totally different from its previous versions. It also noted about the strange crystal in its shoulder which looks like an implanted rare "mega stone."
The gaming news outlet speculated that given the fact that Mewtwo is a result of scientists' experiment; the possibility of a new story where the Pokemon is again experimented to create the Dark Mewtwo is highly plausible.
On the other hand, Game Rant mentioned that Bandai Namco and Nintendo might have secretly updated the game given that there are no announcements of the new Mewtwo evolution. Hence, it is also possible that the Dark Mewtwo will be included in other official Pokemon games as well as in the rumored "Pokemon Z."
It was also highlighted that with "Pokken Tournament" coming to Wii U in 2016, the new version of Mewtwo might find its way into the game.
The Wii U version of "Pokken Tournament" is scheduled to be released in a yet unspecified date during the spring of 2016.
If the Dark Mewtwo really came to the Wii U version of "Pokken Tournament," it will be joining the likes of fan-favorite characters such as Pikachu and its new version Pikachu Libre as well as Charizard, Weavile, Gengar, Gardevoir and Blaziken among others.
