The official launch of “Halo 5: Guardians” is drawing near. There will be several features and modes to look forward to. Here are some of the things to expect in the upcoming title created by 343 Industries.
Game Spot reported that there will be two protagonists in the main campaign -- Master Chief and Spartan Agent Jameson Locke. Each character will be supported by his own squad, Blue Team and Fireteam Osiris, respectively. Players will switch perspectives between the two protagonists as they progress through the campaign, and gradually advance through every group’s narrative.
“Halo 5” will be set shortly after the events of “Halo 4.” A mysterious force, called the Guardians, will pose a threat to the galaxy. Master Chief is also missing at the start of the story and his loyalty will be placed in doubt. Agent Lock will lead a special unit to locate Master Chief.
Based on the same Game Spot report, there will be new mission structures. There will be more variety, where gamers will be exposed to wide open areas and battlefields with more enemies to deal with. Occasionally, players will find themselves delving more into the storyline and exploration.
“Halo 5: Guardians” has a four player co-operative campaign, but the co-op features for the new game will require an Xbox Live Gold membership to play. Otherwise, gamers cannot play the co-op campaign features locally. Every playable member in the squad will have their own special loadout and statistics.
The new game will also feature several new mechanics, such as the Smart-Link aiming system, which lets players zoom in using any weapon. Certain weapons that already come with scopes, will work in regular fashion. Players who get shot while smart-link aiming or using a rifle scope will immediately be removed from the sight state. Gamers can hover in mid-air using Smart-Link aiming as they jump. Mobility has also been enhanced in “Halo 5.”
There is a new REQ or requisition system, which will reward players for spending time in multiplayer. In multiplayer, there is a new mode, called Warzone, which features a 24-player battle that joins elements of PvP and PvE. There are two teams of 12 players who will battle on a huge map. The first team to earn 1,000 victory points or destroys the core of their opponent wins. The 4v4 Arena mode will also be present. Arena mode comes in four game types, namely, Breakout, Strongholds, Capture the Flag and Slayer, Game Spot cited.
IGN revealed that “Halo 5: Guardians” will release on Oct. 27, 2015 for Xbox One exclusively.
