Apple has just appended its iMac roster, revealing two new models in the 21.5-inch iMac with Retina 4K display and the larger 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display.
The two new desktops stand to provide users with an enhanced working experience on text and image displays which are packed with impressive specs to ensure sufficient power and support for folks looking at reliable and efficient desktops to boost their text, image and video related endeavors.
The 21.5-inch iMac will rely on a 3.1GHz Core i7 Broadwell processor together with an integrated Intel Iris Pro Graphics 6200 to satisfy the needs of potential buyers while the bigger 27-inch model will have a 3.2 GHz to 3.3 GHz Core i5 and i7 Skylake processor to work with together with an AMD Radeon R9 GPU.
Both iMacs will come equipped with 2 ports and up to 2TB of Fusion drive storage.
The two new iMac models are already available at the Apple Store as well as select retail outlets. The 21.5-inch iMac with Retina 4K display will carry a retail price starting at $1,499 while the bigger 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display will be offered starting at $1,799.
Though the two new models are expected to hog all the attention, the non-retina models will still be available.
The non-Retina 21.5-inch model is available in two variants priced starting at $1,099 and $1,299.
While the display capabilities of the iMacs seem pretty impressive, there are some features that seem to be lacking. That includes a USB-C and the fact that the Fusion Drive base configuration isn’t standard.
Aside from the two new iMacs, Apple has also introduced its new Magic accessories. Among these include a Magic Keyboard, a Magic Mouse 2 and a Magic Trackpad 2.
The Magic Keyboard is priced at $99, redesigned and improved thanks to a reengineered scissor mechanism that accounts for 33% more key stability and convenience when typing. It makes use of Bluetooth for connectivity as well as a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that can be charged up in full in just two hours.
The Magic Mouse 2 will cost buyers $79 and will also have its own rechargeable lithium-ion battery. It has also be redesigned internally with lesser moving parts.
Lastly, the Magic Trackpad 2 runs for about $129 and features Force Touch plus a larger edge-to-edge glass design and 29% more surface area.
For those buying the new iMacs, the Magic Keyboard and the Magic Mouse 2 are included upon purchase.
As far as the Magic Trackpad 2 is concerned, users who would prefer to have one will have to buy it separately.
