Despite a review embargo for the The Hobbit, reviews have already started to surface.

The Daily News posted a review in which writer Ethan Sacks posits that the film is "one for the ages." Sacks claims that the film runs for two hours and 40 minutes and contains "technological wizardry" and is "lighter and funnier" than the three films that make up The Lord of the Ring trilogy. Sacks does note that the subplot featuring "bumbling wizard Radagast the Brown (Sylvester McCoy), whose buffoonery at times descends into Jar Jar Binks territory." Sacks concludes that "the result runs rings around most special-effects driven blockbusters."

Aside from Sacks, Film Blogger Kylie Klein tweeted that "The #Hobbit is everything I could have hoped for. Perfection. TWO MORE FILMS PLEASE. #3SR."

Seeby Woodyhouse tweeted that "Peter Jackson is a [expletive] legend. The hobbit was awesome. Go see it people. Support NZ like Pete does."

Eva Brooks tweeted "Omg just arrived home from the hobbit premiere..it was awesome loved it."

Twitter user Campbell (@smithitis) was not as celebratory as everyone else and noted that the "First half took forever, but the second half was awesome#hobbitnz."

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey comes out on December 14 around the world. It will play at 400 North American Theaters in its native 48 fps and at the standard 24 fps everywhere else.
