There might be good news in the future for fans of the "Resident Evil" franchise.
Game Rant reports that in the 600th issue of Dengeki Playstation Magazine, Capcom producer Masachika Kawata has stated that fans of the series should "stay tuned" for news about the next game in the series. Kawata reports that there isn't much news to give out, but promises fans that he will be bringing out the horror in the next "Resident Evil" game.
Kawata also believes that the next game in the series will not be a spinoff as the Japanese producer thinks that the franchise needs to get back to its roots. Gamers may have to agree with Kawata as "Resident Evil 6" garnered mostly negative reviews. Fans have cited that the franchise has began to focus more on action / adventure rather than the horror aspect which made the franchise so popular to begin with.
Thus far, it's been about three years since "Resident Evil 6" was released and while fans of the series are used to long wait times between games, the longest being about four years, it doesn't seem that there will be announcements for a new installment anytime soon.
While waiting for news for "Resident Evil", fans will have other survival-horror games to play through. "Resident Evil Revelations 2" does have enormous potential but various bugs and glitches have been reported by gamers. However, fans are waiting anxiously for the HD remake of the original "Resident Evil" game. Reports say that this version of "Resident Evil" has been redone with better graphics, controls and even extra content not yet seen in any other version of the game.
IGN reports that there were also news about other Capcom franchises made in the magazine. Unfortunately, the news was not good as Capcom has confirmed that currently, there are no plans for an offline mode for "Dragon's Dogma". There are also no plans yet for a follow-up game for the "Devil May Cry" series.
With no news about any of their action franchises, Capcom may start to lose loyal gamers, something that they cannot afford since the gaming company failed at making its mark in the mobile gaming department. Currently, the only game that Capcom has on the books is "Street Fighter V', which is currently in its beta testing stage.
