A gamer recently leaked 15 minutes of gameplay footage of the upcoming game “Rise of the Tomb Raider” on YouTube. Square Enix also presented an official trailer, which provided a few glimpses of gameplay.
The Sixth Axis wrote that the video featured the main protagonist Lara Croft exploring dangerous tombs full of puzzles and traps, various landscapes and other hostile territories in her search for the Lost City of Kitezh.
“Rise of the Tomb Raider” is the sequel to the 2013 game reboot “Tomb Raider.” It is set to release exclusively on the Xbox in the holiday season of 2015. The game is produced by Microsoft, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics. The new official trailer, “Descent Into Legend” provided more details in the third-person action-adventure game. Previously, video releases entitled “Advancing Storm” and “Prophet’s Tomb” also gave players quick looks at the actual gameplay, Screen Rant revealed.
The latest trailer release described that in “Rise of the Tomb Raider”, Lara Croft will start her first great tomb raiding adventure to learn about an ancient mystery that will also make her the target of a dangerous group called Trinity. The new video showed never-before-seen gameplay footage. Screen Rant also cited that Rhianna Pratchett returned as writer. She also wrote the story for the 2013 game.
The upcoming game will present high-quality CG characters and FX, together with cut-scenes made using performance capture. The studio stated that the game will be the most immersive and visually stunning ever in the franchise. In the video, Lara Croft was featured swimming, moving across the snowy Siberian terrain and swinging in the wild. Croft will be with Jonah Maiava and will also have to stay safe against other dangers like animals and several environmental factors.
VG247 reported that the new video featured some of the sneak attacks, stealth moves and combat tactics that Croft can employ during the game. The footage was not a developer walkthrough or demo section, and it appeared to be the final or near-final version. There are still existing bugs at the moment so last-minute fixes or a day one patch is likely. Hopefully, the game will live up to the hype.
“Rise of the Tomb Raider” will be available on Xbox One and Xbox 360 on November 19, 2015 in North America. The official launch date for Europe is on November 13. The game will subsequently be released for Windows PC and PlayStation 4 in 2016.
