Final Fantasy fans will be thrilled.
New footages of game protagonists Noctis and Luna were shown in the new 'Final Fantasy XV: Dawn 2.0' teaser trailer released by Square Enix.
While Final Fantasy XV is about six months away from being publicly available, Square Enix has fuelled fan "feels" through the release of brand new teasers.
Last August at Gamescom, Square Enix, as per Digital Trends, released a trailer titled "Dawn." Set 15 years before game proper, the trailer showed a young Noctis being held by his father King Regis - mourning his young sons fate as the chosen one. Tech Times furthers that the trailer gives insight on both the protagonists' past as well as the Final Fantasy World. Moreover, the extended version features Lunafreya surrounded by guards with guns aimed at her while she reminisces a similar attack when she was a young girl. It also cuts to Noctis undergoing a similar trance, reports Digital Trends.
iDigital Times further narrates the teaser in detail:
The Final Fantasy XV "Dawn" trailer begins with the phrase "Fifteen years ago..." and shows Luna, the female protagonist who was the subject of multiple rewrites, sitting in a room under guard by a bunch of Knight Templar types armed with modern rifles. She sits quietly, her expression blank, as the trailer flashes back to the events of 15 years ago.
Apparently, 15 years ago the same self-assured young woman was but a little lass, tossed to the ground by the same manner of sinister armed soldier and cowering away as thunder and lightning flash outside. The "Dawn" trailer lingers on the hulking medieval knights poking guns in cars at military checkpoints, and, to my excitement, also shows the cool dog from the early cut of the Final Fantasy XV "Dawn" trailer.
The writer continues:
The Final Fantasy XV "Dawn" trailer then returns to young Luna, the camera angled down sharply as the man approaches her and she crawls backwards away from him. The trailer changes to the present day, where Luna's expression appears to firm with determination as she raises her head and stands up.
We cut to Noctis and his big black car, where he's doing what Final Fantasy male protagonists do best and brooding beautifully in the rain. The "Dawn" trailer flashes back to the ninety-second hug between Li'l Noctis and his loving royal father...
"...their journey began," reads the text on the screen. We see Luna frown as she pushes aside the guns pointed at her and walks forward just as Noctis strides forward as well, his face set with equally grim determination.
Director Hajime Tabata told GameSpot, as cited by Digital Trends, that while the two will be romantically involved, it won't be a "typical love story." Moreover, although this trailer isn't as impactful as the first, it's giving away clues that Noctis' and Lunafreya's relationship will be important to the game.
Digital Times reports that Final Fantasy XV will be available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Tabata confirmed at PAX last month that the game would be released in 2016 and fans will know more about the release date at a special event in March.
