American Video Game publisher Bethesda Sotfworks together with French game developer Arkane Studios have released a new video detailing the new setting where the story of their upcoming game "Dishonored 2" will take place.
In the interview, Arkane's Co-creative director Harvey Smith gave fans a tour on the game's new location called Karnaca.
Previously, the game's location was in Dunwall which, according to Game Rant, is a "bleak, almost Gothic take on mid-1800s England and Scotland."
However, as cited by Smith, whichever character gamers play, they are still outlaws in the game and they will need to flee Dunwall tower and head to the southernmost city which will lead them to the empire of Karnaca.
The director dubbed the area as the "Jewel of the South" primarily because of its tropical climate, sunshine, lush greenery and great beaches.
"If Dunwall is modeled after Scotland and England, Karnaca might be modeled after Greece or Spain or Italy. It's like southern Europe," Smith told in the interview.
"It is not exactly the real world but it's kind of like the real world in 1850s and those kinds of places are what Karnaca represents," he added.
Moreover, Smith also mentioned that although players will have to track down a series of corky new targets, the game retains the option of playing "very brutally" or "literally play the game without being seen or without killing anyone." This, as cited by the director, is an aspect of the game that is "very much supported."
Nonetheless, despite the vacation-like and relaxing atmosphere that the setting shows, Smith did not remove the possible dangers that lurk in the game. There will be no more "rats" that were present in the previous area, but a more vicious animal in the form of "bloodflies" will take on their role.
The bloodflies nest and multiply inside the corpses of dead people, forming a swarm while being ready to attack anyone near them. Smith said that they can be avoided by being stealthy but he reminded that the game play was also designed to encourage players to deal with the bodies of the enemies they killed in order to prevent the rise of more bloodflies.
The new location of the game comes along the decision of the game developer and publisher to feature the game's first dual protagonist where players can choose between Corvo Attano and Emily Kaldwin.
"Dishonored 2" is set to be released in a yet undefined date in 2016. The game will be made available for Xbox one, PlayStation 4 and PC.
