The latest iOS 9 upgrade dropped on Wednesday Sept. 16 and there are ton of new features for iPhone users.

New Font

One of the first noticeable differences is a new font. The Helvetica Neue font that was installed with the iOS 7 update has been replaced with San Francisco. The differences are subtle. MacWorld has compared screenshots between the iOS 8 and iOS 9 fonts, citing he major differences as "Look at the capital R on Refresh and Restrictions: the older font had more of a curl." The website also says the typography is clearer. "iOS 9 deploys its typography in an airier, clearer way, with a little more space around the lettering." More so, the font will be somewhat recognizable to major Apple fans, or those that own the Apple Watch. San Francisco "was selected and designed specifically to be readable on a miniature screen."

New Keyboard & Shortcuts

They keyboard as a whole has been upgraded as well. In iOS 8, the use of the shift key was barely recognizable, merely changing the shift button to white and the upwards-pointing arrow to black. In iOS 9, when the shift key is in use the entire keyboard while change to upper-case and lower-case when it is off. Shortcuts have also been added to the keyboard. A scissors icon has been added for cut-and-paste commands. As cited by MacWorld, the circular clock icon for to-do list formatting, and formatting options indicated by the upper and lower-case A. The camera icon also accesses the camera and photo library. A final and major change to the keyboard allows users to gain control of the cursor by tapping and holding anywhere on the keyboard with two fingers at the same time. Yep, that means more control when highlighting text. "The keys all grey out while this is in effect, and moving the fingers around on the screen moves the cursor around, selecting any text between it and the starting position you were in before doing the double-finger tap and hold," reports MacWorld.

3D Touch Feature

For the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus users will gain the new 3D Touch feature which is based on the Force Touch technology implemented in the Apple Watch. Users are able to "Peek" into emails you think might be interesting and read it without responding and it will return back to your emails without pressing back. The "Pop" feature can be used if you do want to reply to the email.

And for those on the go, 3D Touch is a great tool for multitasking. MacWorld explains, "You can press on the edge of the screen and swipe to scroll through the apps you've got open, rather than double clicking the Home button."
