Someone needed to tell these guys, this paper mache Trump was not the real thing. Donald Trump piñatas were common accessories this year at Mexican Independence Day celebrations around the country.

In St. Louis, Missouri the real-estate mogul and presidential candidate made an appearance in a form of paper mache dubbed El Trumpo. Restaurant owner Francis Rodriguez built a larger-than-life version of the Republican front runner and hung it outside of his store, Yaquis on Cherokee ahead of a scheduled "El Trumpo Gets a Thumpo" event.

Donald Trump has come under fire after he said Mexicans immigrants are bringing drugs and crime to the United States. "When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best," Trump confessed. "They're not sending you. They're not sending you. They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people."

Before the beating took place, Trump as derided by members of the audience. DJ Rodrigo Romero said, "We are really mad that this guy is saying that all the Spanish people, they're rapists and criminals. That's stupid, my friend. You cannot say that, right?"

Another radio DJ asked the crowd in both In English and Spanish, asked people in the crowd to raise their hands if they are drug dealers or criminals.

"No? No?" he asked when no one raised their hands. "So there you go, proof positive.

Adults and children alike took a swing at the gargantuan figure. By the end of the video the piñata legs are completely gone and children rush to get the candy inside.

Missouri was not the only place El Trumpo took a thumpo. In Simi Valley, California nearly 100 protesters lined the streets surrounding the CNN debate stage. During the debate protesters hung a Donald Trump piñata from a tree. They also carried signs that read "Nothing Less Than Citizenship" and "No to GOP Hate."

Other candidates also came under scrutiny by the protesters. Jeb Bush and Scott Walker were also targeted by the group. See photos of the event at Townhall.com.
