Nokia's hopes to have an impact in the smartphone market could be coming true with the Lumia 920.

Nokia has been trying to be seen but with Apple's iPhone and Samsung's Galaxy products dominating the scene, it has been difficult for the Lumia.

However, the Lumia 920 could be the turnaround.

As Latinos Post previously reported, the Lumia 920 has been sold out in the UK and Germany, but now the strong demand is becoming clear.

According to Yahoo China, 2.5 million units have been ordered in the roughly two weeks it has been on sale, worldwide.

WMPowerUser put the numbers in perspective, noting Nokia sold 2.9 million units of all previous Lumia devices during the last quarter

It is important to note that the 2.5 million units includes the Lumia 820 numbers, according to Ubergizmo.

What could help the Lumia 920 more is this Black Friday 2012 weekend.

AT&T, the exclusive carrier in the US, has slashed the price of the Lumia 920 in half between Black Friday and Sunday, Nov. 25 in AT&T-owned retailers. The original price when signing a two-year contract is $99.99 but is now starting at $49.99.

For those wondering, the unlocked price for the Lumia 920 is $449.99.
