Gamers who own a PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 waiting for the release of "Mortal Kombat X" for their console generation have waited in vain.
In an official announcement made by Community Admin Yorick of WB Games, Warner Bors. Interactive Entertainment will no longer release the PS3 and Xbox 360 version of "Mortal Kombat X."
The statemen said that the development team of the studio cannot create a version of the game on the old consoles that will still meet high gaming standards.
"Please know our teams worked diligently to meet the quality standards set by the current-gen versions of the game. We were not able to get the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions to the quality expected of a Mortal Kombat game and are very sorry for not being able to deliver the products as originally planned," Yorick stated in the announcement.
However, the announcement explained that those who pre-ordered the game for PS3 and Xbox 360 can still get a full refund from the retail stores they ordered from.
According to Game Rant, gamers who play using older consoles previously had to wait for the game to be ported into their versions.
However, as games today are being released with high graphics and more complex game play, the possibility of problems appearing on consoles with lower specifications and capabilities is very high.
The report added that Warner Bros. might have also learned from the release of the PC version of their game "Arkham Knight," which saw a lot of bug problems that resulted to refunding the customers and pulling out all copies in order to fix the bug and avoid any more problems.
Game Rant suggested that gamers should already consider upgrading to newer consoles, specifically pointing that the PS3 and Xbox 360 are already becoming outdated with the number of games being released for them also decreasing.
The report mentioned Microsoft will only support Xbox 360 until 2016 and Sony will only hold on PS3 only until the end of this year.
It added that even Ubisoft will not be releasing versions of "Fallout 4" and other of its AAA games in the said old gaming consoles.
"Mortal Kombat X", which is now available for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, is the 10th installment of the brutal and violent fighting video game, featuring a mix of new and old characters from previous versions.
The game's new series also introduces a new story as well as an improved and better game play mechanics.
