Kindle Fire Black Friday 2012 Deals Commemorate Amazon's 5-Year Anniversary

It has been five years since Amazon introduced the Kindle Fire to tech lovers, a gamble that has since paid off in spades for the company.

At the time, e-books had yet to reach the soaring sales heights they maintain today and "most publishers just weren't willing to move [,but Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos] made them all move, and he took a bold bet on  hardware and got into a different business that didn't necessarily play to Amazon's strengths," according to O'Reilly Media founder Tim O'Reilly.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Bezos asserted: "People don't want gadgets, they want services. For us, the hardest piece has been integrating, in a very simple way for customers, the vast Amazon content ecosystems."

Amazon will likely be gifted with a hefty sum of revenue for its birthday celebration from Black Friday sales this week. Check out the deals below for the Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD.

Kindle Fire

OFFICE MAX: Customers who purchase a Kindle Fire HD between 6 a.m. and noon on November 23 will receive a $25 gift card.

OFFICE DEPOT: The second-generation Amazon Kindle Fire will be available for $159.99, with a supplemental $25 Visa gift card included.

WALMART: The iPad 2 will sell for $399 alongside a $75 Wal-Mart gift card. 

BEST BUY: At Best Buy, the 16GB Kindle Fire sells for $159.99, while the Fire HD costs $199.99. Both tablets come with a $30 Best Buy gift card.

Those who skew towards Apple will have access to a $40-60 price cut on the iPad 2 and fourth-generation iPads.

STAPLES: Customers who buy a $200 16GB Kindle Fire HD or a $250 32GB Fire HD will get a $20 Staples gift card with their purchase.Kindle Fire for $159 with $20 gift card.

SHOPKO: The Kindle Fire will be available for $149.99, saving techies $30 in total, according to Android Authority.

Amazon's 7-inch Fire HD sports a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, with a 1280 x 800 resolution that runs 720p. The 8.9 tablet displays at 1080p with a 1920 x 1200 resolution, and runs off of a 1.5GHz dual-core processor. The original Kindle Fire features a 1Ghz TI OMAP4 processor, and runs at a 1064 X 600 resolution with 169 pixels per square inch.
