Square Enix officially announced the launch of "Dragon Quest 11" on the Nintendo NX and PS4 last July. Here are some screenshots shared by a Japanese website.
"Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time" showcased high-definition pictures from the PlayStation 4, according to Wired. The report further stated that the game's development team were hard at work in the utilization of Epic Games' next-generation Unreal Engine 4.
In earlier news, according to Game Rant, Square Enix announced a number of events that involved a beloved franchise in the gaming industry. Dragon Quest had been making waves as the tenth instalment of the game will be ported on to the PS4. However, the shocker was the announcement of "Dragon Quest 11" earlier.
According to Game Rant, only the Japanese gamers can look forward to this game. Square Enix has yet to provide a statement that will indicate a release outside of Japan. Hope seems bleak for a North American and a European release of the game based on the fact that the 3DS version of "Dragon Quest 8: Journey of the Cursed King" has a release date on Aug. 27, 2015 only in Japan. To make matters worse, "Dragon Quest 7" has already been out for more than two years but still has no localization.
The report further described Square's strategy as both brilliant and interesting. A breath-taking open-world Japanese Role-Playing Game (JRPG) for the PS4 released simultaneously with a smaller yet more traditional version of the same game on the handheld Nintendo 3DS will expand the number of audiences for the title. Yet again, these audiences will exclude the rest of the world.
Perhaps there is still a chance, despite the fact that the last Dragon quest game released in America and Europe was five years ago. If fans give enough love to "Dragon Quest Heroes," Square Enix just might consider a North American and European release.
Armor Project's Dragon Quest franchise is a well-known legend in the gaming world. Why wouldn't it be? With legends like Yuuji Horii as the game creator, Akira Toriyama designing the characters and Square Enix as the publisher and one of the developers, fans will know that this is a great game. Although Horii-san once said that Americans are not too fond of turn-based RPGs, a little hope and persistence could ship the eleventh instalment of the franchise state-side.
"Dragon Quest XI" is set for release in Japan by 2016, and (hopefully with fingers crossed) in North America and Europe later next year. Keep posted for more news to come.
