Capcom has just recently bolstered its line-up for their newest game, "Street Fighter V," by adding Street Fighter veteran and former mid-boss Vega / Claw to the game.
Fans of the Spanish matador / ninja will be happy to know that Vega will have new tricks to dazzle and confuse his enemies. According to the Playstation Blog, Vega will have the ability to put away his iconic claw which will give him access to new move sets and combos. However, Vega's opponents still have the ability to knock the claw off of his hands. Unlike previous Street Fighter games though, players will not have the ability to pick the claw up again.
One of the game's main developers, Peter "Combofiend" Rosas, stated in Capcom Unity Blog that the biggest hurdle that Vega players will face is the balancing of the two stances. According to Rosas, the move set that Vega receives without the claw is all brand new. In previous versions of Vega, losing the claw mainly just meant a loss of damage and reach. However, the Spanish ninja will receive target combos, a speed increase and a command throw.
The overall look of Vega has changed slightly as well. Before, the character only had matador pants, Spanish shoes, sash belt, his iconic mask and claw as costume. Now, his look has been somewhat updated as a white formal Spanish shirt has been added to Vega's look.
Vega will still have several moves from previous Street Fighters. The Rolling Crystal Flash, Flying Barcelona Attack, Scarlet Terror and Sky High Claw will all return to the fighter's available moves. Vega will also have access to a small damaging rose projectile, which is somewhat similar with what Dudley has in his "Street Fighter 3" and "Street Fighter 4" versions.
While Vega has been a playable member of the Street Fighter cast since "Street Fighter II: Championship Edition," many fans of the game wonder why he would be included in for "Street Fighter V" especially among the first few characters revealed. The character has gone down in popularity over the years and in "Street Fighter IV," he is considered more of specialist character than anything else. Many believe that his inclusion has something to do with the recently added Necalli, who is in form and function considered as the direct opposite of Vega.
The "Street Fighter V" cast is reported to be 16 at launch and the roster currently holds Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Cammy, M. Bison, Birdie, Nash, Necalli and now Vega. Who would you want to see added next?
