Android 4.2 Releases On The Nexus 7, Nexus 10, and Nexus 4

Android updates are some of the most sought-after tech upgrades around. Google-branded devices are usually the first in line to receive the latest version of Android and yesterday, November 13, Android 4.2 was launched on the Google Nexus 7 tablet. 

Google devices such as the LG Nexus 4 and the Samsung-built Nexus 10 tablet recently launched with Android 4.2 pre-installed. Now, the Nexus 7 tablet which debuted near the beginning of the 2012 summer, is receiving the upgrade as well. Nexus 7 owners can download Android 4.2 via an over-the-air (OTA) update. Samsung Galaxy Nexus owners can also upgrade to Android 4.2.

There is some bad news, however. Google has confirmed that the Nexus S and Motorola XOOM tablet won't be receiving an Android 4.2 update. The devices are quite old, so this isn't entirely surprising, and is probably a push from Google to get those device owners to upgrade to an LG Nexus 4 or a new Google Nexus tablet. CNET's Asia blog Crave does report, however, that there is high chance of third-party Android 4.2 ROMS being developed for the devices.

Android 4.2 brings a number of new features to the table, including a new Photo Sphere mode that allows for panoramic photographs. Android 4.2's Google Now will even suggest great photo-op spots based on the user's current location that can be uploaded in to Google Maps' street view. 

Android 4.2 will also introduce multiple user accounts to the mobile operating system, allowing family members and friends to share a single device in the same way that users can log into a PC. Settings, game saves, and apps will all be stored for each individual user.
