The Wii comes out in a few days and the first reviews are in for Nintendo's two major launch titles: Nintendo Land and New Super Mario Bros. U.

The reviews were published by GameMaster in the Holiday 2012 Issue.

Regarding Nintendo Land, the publication noted that the multiplayer games are fun, but the single player ones are less memorable. They note that the GamePad TV crossover is most effective when done in tandem. In conclusion they noted that "As a discerning gamer, you may not find all that Nintendo Land has to offer to your liking, but should you fork out for a Wii U, you owe it to your family, to your friends and to everyone else you know, to bag a copy of this to go with it." GameMaster gave the Graphics a 90 percent, the gameplay and 86, accessibility 95, lifespan an 82, innovation a 92, and an overall score of 82 percent. The publication called it an essential purchase for party lovers.

The critics were less favorable to the new Mario title, which is Nintendo's biggest draw for hard core gamers in the first party lineup. GameMaster noted that it was easier than the Wii predecessor New Super Mario Bros. Wii  and took just seven hours to complete. They stated that the best part of the game was near the end when the innovation started to come to the fore and concluded that they "were surprised, excited, and twinkly-eyed during an excellent finale. It's almost as if Nintendo suddenly realized that they were in fact working with a Wii U, with a game-changing GamePad and everything."

The graphics got an 82 percent, gameplay an 85, accessibility a 90, lifespan and 80, innovation a 75, and an overall score of 82 percent.

The Wii U launches on November 18, 2012 with 23 launch titles.
