There are rumors that the new Nexus phone being developed by Huawei will release soon.
Based on a post on Twitter by industry leakster Evan Blass or @EvLeaks, the new Huawei Nexus sounded impressive so far. It will most likely feature a 5.7-inch QHD screen with a pixel resolution of 2560 x 1440, a metal body, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip and a fingerprint reader. Blass also tweeted that the device will ship in the fourth quarter of 2015.
However, Chinese analyst Pan Jiutang refuted Blass’s statements on his Weibo account. He shared the reason why the Huawei Nexus phone will feature a Snapdragon 810. He stated that Qualcomm will not have the Snapdragon 820 available before December 2015, so the first devices that will include the new chip will only be available sometime in March 2016 at least. Furthermore, the Huawei Nexus is set to launch in November 2015, so it would be premature for the phone to have the Snapdragon 820.
Pan Jiutang continued that the first smartphone to hit the market with the Snapdragon 820 will be the Xiaomi Mi 5 Plus.
In May 2015, Android Police revealed that the upcoming Nexus 5 (2015) will be developed by two companies – LG and Huawei. Huawei will reportedly make the bigger model, which is codenamed Angler. The Angler was rumored to feature 5.7-inches of screen, a 3,500mAh battery and a Snapdragon 810 or more powerful processor. On the other hand, the LG Nexus, codenamed Bullhead, will most likely feature a 5.2-inch display, a 2,700mAh battery and a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 chip. No confirmation regarding the price of both products have been made, but the bigger Huawei Angler is expected to be more expensive than the LG model.
If the rumored details turn out to be true, the Huawei Nexus will be the phone to beat in 2015, based on a report by Digital Trends. Huawei is the first Chinese smartphone maker that was given the task of making a Google flagship model. Google previously had HTC, LG, Motorola and Samsung create some of its previous devices. The upcoming model will reportedly present features that fit Google’s preferences more than Huawei. Having the powerful chip and great display resolution would make it one of the best smartphones of the year at a reasonable price.
In the meantime, fans will have to wait for an official announcement from Google or Huawei regarding the specifications and official launch date of the device.
