Ubisoft is one of the top supporters of Nintendo in this upcoming console cycle and has already committed eight titles for the Wii U's launch. However, no title is of greater importance than Zombi U, an exclusive zombie title for the Nintendo new console.
The Wii U will have Assassin's Creed 3, Mass Effect 3, Batman: Arkham City, Super Mario Bros U at launch, but aside from Mario the other titles are already on the other major consoles in one form or another. ZombiU is special because it won't show up on any other console in the near future. Most importantly, various indications point to the fact that the title could be a tremendous game as well. Latinos Post's own James Paladino tried out the title at New York's Comic-con just weeks ago and stated that it had "left a lasting impression that rekindled my faith in the Wii U as an evolution of the Wii."
The game works as a first person shooter that takes complete advantage of Nintendo's Gamepad tablet controller giving players a wide range of abilities including functioning as a sonar scanner. The GamePad will also allow gamers to change their inventory on the fly and to zoom in to use the sniper scope as well. No information has yet been revealed as to whether the game is compatible with the regular classic game controller.
The other interesting aspect of the game is the fact that if a player dies, their character is permanently dead. Once they die, the player controls another survivor and can either kill the previous character's zombie form to retrieve items, or inject them with a special cure to return them to human form.
The game will also have a multi-player mode in which friends can go to the spot where their friends died to retrieve their equipment.
Ubisoft recently revealed that the title contains a major twist and surprises at the end of the story but details are limited for now.
If ZombiU is a major success, then it could inspire confidence in other third party companies bringing more exclusive creative third party content to the Wii U.
