A "Star Wars" fan will know that the Death Star is an iconic ship from the movie series. The Death Star is then correlated to everyone's favourite Darth Vader. When the Sith lord is mentioned, everyone imagines his background music.
Much to fans' disappointment, "Star Wars: Battlefront" will not feature a multiplayer map of the Death Star.
Gamerant reported that despite it being one of the most requested maps, the Deathstar will not be available as a multiplayer map in the 2015 reboot.
Fans of the series should not be disappointed though as Gamespot does report that there will be at least 12 maps when the game is launched and many more maps to be added via downloadable content (DLC).
Another iconic vehicle that is not playable is the AT-AT. A mission with the AT-AT as the main objective is available, yet no player will be able to high jack the iconic walker.
Most of the solo or co-op campaigns, as seen from the E3 trailer, seem to feature scenes from the Star Wars movie franchise. One such map includes the battle of Hoth that opened The Empire Strikes Back film. The second map confirmed is set during the Empire's attack on Endor from Return of the Jedi.
Reports stated that DLC maps will be available for everyone. Most maps will be available for free for everyone that owns a copy of Star Wars Battlefront on December 8. Those who pre-ordered will get their copy of the game by December 1 and will get to access the maps one week earlier than the rest.
A third map was mentioned, according to gamerant. The map's name is "The Battle of Jakku," and it is based on the desert planet seen in the early trailers for the upcoming "Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens" film. This is to make a connection between the movies Return of the Jedi and The Force Awaken.
To make the wait bearable, EA announced a closed alpha for the PC version of Star Wars battlefront. Select few will get to try out a demo of the game. This is a perfect opportunity to gather information, little as it may seem, for curious Star Wars fans all over the world.
As "Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens" draws closer to cinemas near you, so is the release date for Star Wars Battlefront. The video game is scheduled for release on November 17 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
