Will the next Samsung Galaxy Tab S be able to take down Apple's iPad Air 2?

While Samsung has not yet officially announced the Galaxy Tab S' successor, rumors are already circulating that a powerful tablet would come out soon. Master Herald, for instance, speculated that the new device would be "ready to compete" with iPad Air 2 and Nexus 9. It is primarily because all three gadgets have very similar sizes and available on Wi-Fi only and cellular variants.

What else do we know about the new Samsung tablet?

Aside from the two choices (Wi-Fi only and cellular), the new Samsung tablet is also said to come out in two sizes -- 8-inches and 9.7-inches. These new sizes are smaller than the current Galaxy Tab S sizes -- 8.4-inches and 10.5-inches.

Earlier, On Leaks revealed some details about the design and dimensions of the upcoming device.

Leaked images previously found by Sam Mobile showed that the device would get a 4:3 aspect ratio display. Plus, it would be using Super AMOLED display with a pixel resolution of 2048x1536. The new tablet would also be getting an Exynos 5433 processor, a 3GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel main camera, and a 2 megapixel front camera. Also expect an LTE connectivity feature and Android 5.0 Lollipop software in the new device. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is also said to come with a 16 GB of storage and a microSD slot.

Sam Mobile earlier said in its previous report that the new high-end tablet Galaxy Tab S2 would be arriving in June. Another report from Sam Mobile reportedly confirmed the arrival of the new device. "The changelog claims that the newest version of the app now supports the Galaxy Tab S2 along with the Galaxy Tab A, thereby confirming the existence of the yet unreleased Galaxy Tab S2," the Sam Mobile report said. 

On the other hand, the iPad Air 2 has a 2048-by-1536-pixel resolution, iOS 8, and an A8X chip. It has a height of 9.4 inches, width of 6.6 inches, depth of 0.24 inches, and weight of 0.96 pounds. It has an 8 megapixel iSight camera and a 1.2 megapixel FaceTime HD camera. It is available in 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB memory capacities.
