There are rumors that Apple is about to begin accepting preorders for the iPhone 6S on September 18.
The rumors allegedly started from an insider at Vodafone. An email was reportedly circulating within the company, telling employees that they should prepare for the start of preorder-taking for an Apple iPhone starting September 18. The email did not indicate the specific iPhone model that will launch soon but simply referred to the device as "the new iPhone".
There have been no confirmations regarding the specifications of the upcoming device but there are talks that it will be a lower version of the standard iPhone 6. There may be minor changes in the hardware, especially the display. There are also speculations that the new device will be better than the iPhone 6. There are rumors that Apple will be releasing more than one iPhone product in 2015. Some rumors actually indicated that Apple will launch three new iPhone models. The third product is said to be quite small, featuring a 4-inch display.
Master Herald also wrote that the upcoming iPhone 6S is expected to present a 12-megapixel rear camera. Apple reportedly enhanced the image processor for better quality images. There are also talks that the new device will have longer battery life. It is unclear whether Apple will include a bigger battery or include battery-saving features but new engineers have been hired to work on improving overall battery performance. Techno Buffalo stated that the new iPhone may feature 2GB of RAM.
Apple Insider reported that the new product will use a tougher metal alloy material compared to the iPhone 6 to keep it from bending. It has also been confirmed that Apple will use a 7000 series aluminum/zinc alloy for the iPhone 6S and most likely the iPhone 6S Plus too. Force Touch may be added and the phone may be 0.2 mm thicker and 0.15 taller compared to the standard model. The design will probably be very much the same as its predecessor. There are also rumors that the new smartphone will include a new processor, higher resolution and a new Rose Gold color option.
It may also be a cheaper model of the original iPhone 6, with scaled down specifications in the system. There have been no confirmations as to the retail price of the iPhone 6S, but the budget model's price is expected to be significantly lower than the standard model, similar to the iPhone 5c.
