The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is currently the king of massive phones, already selling over three million units since its recent launch and sporting some of the most powerful specs on a 4G LTE handset. HTC is countering with their own 5-inch massive smartphone that will feature an incredibly high-definition display.
Known in Japan as the HTC J Butterfly, the handset will be released by HTC through Verizon in the United States under the name the HTC Droid DNA, model ADR6435.
Twitter user @evleaks posted a picture of the HTC Droid DNA and stated that it would release on Verizon early in December. This is great news for Verizon customers since by that time, they will be able to choose between the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and HTC Droid DNA this holiday season.
Website TheDroidGuy also found the HTC Droid DNA mentioned on Verizon's website, under the page listing devices without a removable battery.
The HTC Droid DNA should be sporting a 5-inch LCD 3 1080p display that will push out a ridiculous 440 pixels per inch (ppi). The hardware underneath is powerful too - a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 2GB RAM, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, and 16GB storage.
The handset should be running Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean or higher, and according to AndroidAuthority, could cost around $199 with a two-year contract.
HTC has been known for making quality handsets, like the HTC One X and One X+, so the Droid DNA is sure to be a solid buy when it does release in a month. Its biggest competitor will be the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, which has a 5.55-inch screen and a $299.99 price tag.
