Some "Red Dead Redemption" fans were left dumbfounded after seeing lead character John Marston dying. With that to consider, some come up with the idea that John's son, Jack, would be continuing the conquest.
Movie Pilot for instance aired this in its recent report. Its author Kenny McDonnell however concluded that starting where it ended would not be a good idea.
"Maybe a new time, set earlier or later with completely different characters would be more suited. Maybe Red Dead Redemption should be left as a standalone experience, just like Red Dead Revolver," to quote McDonnell's report.
Cheat Sheet meanwhile said that it is very likely that Rockstar would release another "Red Dead Redemption" installment, following the previous one's success.
Earlier rumors have revealed that the next "Red Dead Redemption" game would carry the title "Legends of the West," as revealed by a Reddit post from an alleged former Rockstar employee/ audio engineer who leaked several details about the new game.
Here's what the alleged post said: "Hello. I am a former Rockstar game dev. I will not give any more personal information for my safety. My boss was a major D*** so this is why I am leaking info on the up coming Red Dead Redemption prequel. The sequel will be called 'Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West'. Although it is the second (or third if you consider Undead Nightmare a sequel) game, It is chronologically before the original game. The game will take place in the same area as the original game, twelve years before the first original game."
Michael Pachter of Wedbush Securities earlier said via Gaming Bolt that he personally thinks that a "Red Dead Redemption" sequel would not come out soon, rather, a new IP might be announced.
"I don't think the sequel to Red Dead Redemption is the next Rockstar game. Remember when I said there was some new IP that they've been working on since at least '09?...I think Rockstar has a really amazing number of great games and great IPs, and I don't think that Rockstar are motivated by money. I think Rockstar are motivated by high quality game experiences. And I don't think that they're willing to abandon those other brands in order to generate higher sales for their parent company. I think that they want to keep all those brands alive," Pachter said.
What do you think? Should Rockstar release a "Red Dead Redemption" sequel already? Should Jack continue? Or is there a need for a new protagonist? Share your thoughts at the comments section below!
