The next Sony Xperia Z5 Ultra is rumored to come out next year, Android Origin has reported. In the exclusive report, it was revealed that a successor to the recently released Xperia Z4 is set to be unveiled soon. And as expected, it would come out with its Ultra and Compact versions.
"Since Sony didn't announce the Xperia Z4 at the Mobile World Congress this year, many expected that Sony would not be announcing a second flagship device this year since the Xperia Z4 is expected to arrive only by the middle of the year. However, that isn't going to be the case. Sony is targeting a Q4 announcement of the Xperia Z5, along with the Xperia Z5 Ultra and the Xperia Z5 Compact smartphones," to quote the actual Android Origin report.
However, its unidentified source has revealed that the release date of the new devices might be delayed to 2016 if the Snapdragon 820 won't make it on time.
Now for the specs, features and other details, Android Origin in a separate report said that the Z5 Ultra would likely get a 6-inch display while the Z5 Compact would get a 4.8-inch one. Note that the current Z Ultra's display size is at 6.44-inches. The rumored Z5 Compact size meanwhile may indicate that it would get a higher resolution reaching up to 1080 x 1920.
Aside from the new sizes, Android Origin also revealed that the new Xperia Z5 products would also get a new design.
"Sony has been using the Omni-Balance design for its flagship smartphones for almost five generations now. Fortunately, the Xperia Z4 is said to be the last Sony Xperia flagship smartphone to feature this design language," Android Origin's Arjit Singh said.
But this will all change as Android Origin's source has revealed that the new handsets would "be very different from anything we have seen earlier on an Xperia device." It also said that it will be inspired by the BRAVIA television sets. Sony's logo would also be moved to the side. Its body will also be likely be thicker than its predecessors Xperia Z3 and Z4.
The new devices are said to get 4GB of RAM each. The Xperia Z5 Ultra meanwhile is said to be the first Sony device to feature a fingerprint scanner through the Ultrasonic Sense ID from Qualcomm.
Sony has not yet commented on these speculations. What do you think of the new Sony devices? Share your thoughts in the comments section below!
