Google unveiled a slew of new devices, including a 32GB Nexus 7, a cellular Nexus 7, a large Nexus 10 tablet, and a new Nexus 4 smartphone. Along side these electronic devices, Google also took the lid off Android 4.2 - the next iteration of the Android operating system.
Android 4.2 will improve Google Now, enabling the voice assistant to even pull ideas from Gmail. The app will now even be able to suggest great spots to take photographs from based on your current location.
This should be a great feature given that Android 4.2 also introduces Photo Sphere camera. This mode will allow people to take panoramic pictures and even upload them to Google Maps. One can only imagine how interesting this should make Google Street View.
There will now be a multi-user option, allowing different people to log on to the same device much like multiple user accounts on your laptop or desktop. Each user will be able to customize his or her Android to their preferences, and Android 4.2 will keep separate track of game-saves and other apps. Families and groups of friends will sure find this useful.
Much like Apple's AirPlay, Android 4.2 will come with Miracast, which will allow for wireless streaming between Android devices. You can stream from your phone or tablet on to your living room television, which will allow you to access content from any one of your devices.
Some other new features in Android 4.2 include gesture-based typing, and improved security measures.
Android 4.2 will begin hitting Google Nexus devices over the coming weeks.
