There are rumors that the much-anticipated Microsoft Surface Pro 4 might be released earlier than expected.

Although the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 was not unveiled at the recent BUILD event, there are speculations going around that the device might be launched on May 20, 2015, which is much earlier than the previously anticipated July 2015 release. The 2-in-1 device, if launched in May, will most likely operate on Windows 8.1 and will be upgradable to Windows 10 when the new OS becomes available in July this year.

According to Christian Today, the Surface Pro 4 is set to feature a fanless design and will likely run on the Intel Broadwell processor. Broadwell chips are said to be more efficient in dissipating heat compared to the Intel M processor, thus allowing for a fanless design. To further solve heat issues in the device, small holes were placed at key areas in lieu of bulky fans. The tablet is also expected to offer at least two screen sizes for users to choose from, one having 12 inches of screen and rendering a resolution of 2160 x 1440p. In addition, there will be several connective capabilities such as a USB 3.0 port and microUSB port.

Microsoft already announced in March that Windows 10 will be making a summer release. The OS will be available in 190 countries and 111 languages, Neowin previously revealed. Although there was no confirmation as to the official date yet, the OS will possibly be available anytime between June 21 and the end of July, added Neowin, citing AMD.

Terry Myerson, the head of the operating systems team at Microsoft, stated in a blog post on the Windows website that Windows 10 was shared at the Windows Hardware Engineering Community event in Shenzen, China, but did not divulge more information as to the release time frame.

However, Neowin noted that there are more to consider aside from the Release To Manufacturing date for the OS. Microsoft is still reportedly in the process of completing the RTM build of Windows 10. Microsoft may also ship a pre-released build and then make it upgradable upon the initial boot. Another option would be to wait and maximize the sales of the Surface Pro 3 then release the Pro 4 when all the hardware and software are ready to offer a great out-of-box experience.

Overall, if the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 would be releasing with the Windows 10, buyers should expect the release date to happen on a much later time frame.
