More details about the upcoming "Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4" were revealed recently.
Anime News Network (ANN) reported that a new subtitled video was featured by Bandai Namco Entertainment on April 29, presenting Hiroshi Matsuyama, President and CEO of CyberConnect2. Matsuyama talked about the upcoming game, which will be available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC via Steam.
In another report, ANN noted that "Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4" will present the largest number of fighters in the history of the series. Matsuyama confirmed in the video that there will be characters from "The Last: Naruto the Movie" as well as from the fight between Hashirama and Madara. Naruto, Sasuke, Hinata and Sakura will appear in the game. Hyuga Hanabi, Hinata's younger sister, will also share the spotlight. Meanwhile, the likes of Rin, Kakashi and Obito will be presented in the Story Mode. Hayashi, Hinata's father, will appear but will not a playable character, according to an article by Siliconera. Furthermore, the game will include the Shinobi World War.
The battle system of the game will also be changed, Matsuyama added. The biggest adjustment was made on the Leader Change System. Comparing the upcoming game and the previous installment, Matsuyama explained that before, the team was comprised of the main character together with two supports. In the new game, all three characters can be played by gamers and can fight spontaneously. Each character in the team can also use Awakenings and Ultimate Jutsus.
At the event, Matsuyama also talked about the Story Mode of "Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4".
He said in a video posted by Bandai (see video below): "I'm always asked whether there's going to be a boss battle and my answer to that this time [is] yes. With the manga series finished, I'm planning to showcase up until the climax of the series with a level of super-animation unlike anything before, so please do look forward to it... The boss battle is just ridiculously over the top!"
"We recreated our engine from scratch using PC as the base. From there, we port the game to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The new engine takes the anime presentation from PS3 and Xbox 360 and go beyond what we've been able to do with the game's visuals," he told Siliconera in an interview. "Now, we can add more elements for players to see in the stage as they are fighting. Also, when a character uses a jutsu we can show environmental damage like shattered ground or burnt areas after fire has been used. There are more particle effects we can add to the game in attacks too."
Anime News Network also said that the game will be available in the West in the fall of 2015. The release in Japan is also set for the fall, although the PC release has not been confirmed for the region.
