LG and Samsung are about to release its latest flagship smartphones. Fans have already been speculating which device is better in terms of aesthetics, performance and materials in the past several months.
Here is a breakdown between the two smartphones:
Aesthetics
In terms of aesthetics, the Samsung Galaxy S6 features a more modern look because of its glass back and metal frame, Android Central described. The LG G4 features a plastic back with a metallic finish. The G4 appears curvier while the S6 is generally flat. Both phones feel comfortable in the hand and is lightweight. The S6 is slimmer but can gather fingerprints rather quickly.
Weight, size, OS, resolution, connective capabilities
CNET reported that the LG G4 measures 5.87 x 2.96 x 0.35 inches and weighs 5.4 ounces while the Samsung Galaxy S6 is slightly smaller, measuring 5.65 x 2.75 x 0.27 inches and weighs 4.8 ounces. LG G4 has the bigger display, featuring 5.5 inches of screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels with 534 ppi. The Galaxy S6 has a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED screen with the same resolution with 557 ppi. LG G4 will run on the Android 5.0 Lollipop while S6 will feature the same OS with Touchwiz. Both smartphones have 4G LTE and other connective capabilities such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC.
Screen, DCI Compliance
When it comes to the screen, the G4 improved in terms of brightness and richness, TechRadar said. It is also 98 percent digital cinema initiatives (DCI) compliant, putting it almost in the same category as a cinema screen. Although Samsung screens were better in the past, the G4 is catching up. The Galaxy S6's screen is 110 percent DCI compliant, featuring more oversaturation and fewer natural colors.
Camera, processor, memory, wireless charging
Based on the same CNET report, both devices have the same 16-megapixel rear camera, but LG G4 has the better front camera with 8 megapixels since the Galaxy S6 has a 5-megapixel front camera.
The G4 features the 64-bit 1.8GHz hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, while the S6 runs on the 64-bit octa-core Samsung Exynos 7420, with four cores clocked at 2.1 GHz and the other four at 1.5GHz.
The G4 is available with 32 GB of internal memory, expandable up to 128 GB via a microSD. Samsung users can choose from 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB of internal memory. The S6 does not feature expandable memory.
Both devices have 3 GB of RAM. LG G4 includes a 3,000 mAh battery while Galaxy S6 has a 2,550 mAh battery.
The S6 features wireless charging but G4 does not.
There are plenty of similarities between the two smartphones, so users may include brand loyalty and personal experience with the predecessors of both products in their decision.
