Today is a big day for U.S. consumers. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 begins releasing across carriers after a painful wait that has had many anxious to get their hands on the incredibly powerful tablet. T-Mobile is the first carrier to start selling the Galaxy Note 2 today, but for a higher price.
T-Mobile is offering the Galaxy Note 2 for $369 with a standard two-year contract, a full $70 more expensive than other carriers. Also, the price is after a $50 mail-in rebate, meaning you'll have to pay $419 up front. The higher price tag may be T-Mobile justifying being the only carrier to sell the Galaxy Note 2 on its launch day of October 24.
A call to a T-Mobile store near Times Square in New York confirmed that T-Mobile retail stores do indeed have the Galaxy Note 2 in stock and ready for purchase as of this morning. You can also order the Galaxy Note 2 through T-Mobile's website for the same price.
Keep in mind that Wal-Mart is slated to sell the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 for $299, and that Wirefly is reported to be offering the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 for $279.
Sprint will begin selling the Galaxy Note for $299 tomorrow, October 25. AT&T will start taking pre-orders the same day, and has stated the handset will release on November 9 on its network.
Carrier U.S. Cellular began taking pre-orders before anybody else, except the carrier has given no specific release date. The online pre-order page merely states that the handset will ship "by the end of October."
No concrete details on the Verizon Galaxy Note 2, although expect the carrier to take a similar approach as AT&T and release the phablet in early-to-mid November.
Samsung will be holding a launch event at 7 p.m. EDT in New York City that will help kickstart the Galaxy Note 2's arrival in the United States.
