LG users are already excited about the upcoming release of the brand's new flagship smartphone - the LG G4.
Based on a report by Phone Arena, the LG G4 will officially become available on April 28. Particularly, the smartphone will feature a 5.5-inch Quad HD IPS display, similar to the LG G3. The difference is in the IPS panel. The new model will be brighter and provide a wider array of colors, according to LG. The display panel will also be thinner.
LG also presented the features and specs in its first official teaser video on April 15, promising new details for potential users to look forward to. The new model will include a 16-megapixel "groundbreaking" rear camera with an aperture of f/1.8 and a front camera with 8 megapixels. The unit will have LED flash and laser autofocus too. NDTV reported that the Quantum IPS display will have a resolution of 1440x2560 pixels. The display will be 25 percent brighter and feature a color range 20 percent wider compared to the competition. The teaser also shared that the G4 will have high color gamut of 120 percent and a contrast ratio that is 50 percent higher compared to conventional Quantum HD LCD panels, GSM Arena noted.
Furthermore, power consumption will also be improved in its 3000mAh battery. Touch responsiveness was enhanced via the Advanced In-Cell Touch (AIT) technology, which embeds the touch sensor inside the LCD.
NDTV also reported that the LG G4 will feature a new photo-alignment technology which uses UV light to create a liquid crystal alignment layer in the display panel. It will provide a higher contrast ratio by evenly aligning the liquid crystals. As a result, light leakage is reduced. The 5.5-inch Quad HD display will function better at bright outdoor locations because of the enhanced contrast and brightness.
LG G4 users will have more options in terms of the rear panels, according to CNet. The rear panels will either be leather or plastic and users can pick among a number of colors. The flagship smartphone will include SD card support, a manual camera mode that allows users to toggle shutter speed, image quality (jpeg/raw), OIS, brightness, white balance and many others.
How about the processor? As noted on TomsGuide, the new device may feature the Snapdragon 810 or Snapdragon 808 chip and 3GB of RAM. Meanwhile, since the LG G3 is currently priced at $359.99 on Amazon (non-contract), AndroidPIT estimated that the LG G4 could be priced at around $400 USD.
Earlier in April 2015, LG announced that it will give out 4,000 LG G4 units to chosen consumers in 15 countries for its consumer experience program.
