Will Microsoft finally introduce its rumored Surface Pro 4 this month?

According to a recent report from Cross Map, there are speculations that the next Surface Pro device would come out very soon, specifically "this month." Several reports from the International Business Times back these speculations.

These reports cited an article written by DigiTimes' Aaron Lee and Joseph Tsai. The report says that the Surface Pro 4 is expected to be showcased in the upcoming Build conference which is scheduled this month.

"Microsoft is reportedly planning to unveil its next-generation Surface Pro 4 tablet during the upcoming Build developer conference in April. The new Surface Pro tablet is estimated to enter mass production in June and will be released along with Windows 10 in the second half of 2015, the sources said," to quote the DigiTimes report.

Not only that, the article also shed some light about the official release and price of the recently unveiled Surface 3.

"Microsoft's Surface 3 tablet, announced at the end of March, is expected to be available in May, priced at US$499 and will be competitive in the market, the sources noted," again, to quote the DigiTimes report.

The report also detailed on the shipments Microsoft is planning to pursue. It said that due to the release of these new Surface products, it is expected that the firm would step up and boost the supply of its tablets. For this year, it is being estimated that the firm would ship "over four million" Surface tablets, much higher from the previous year's 2 million units.

It also noted that since the birth of the Surface franchise, the company has already shipped at least 12 million Surface tablets, resulting in a higher number of sales, specifically in the fourth quarter of 2014 where it rose by about 24% from the same period a year ago.

However, Inquisitr reported that it is likely that the next Microsoft Surface Pro laplet would come out this October to coincide with the release of the new Windows 10. To which industry analyst Paul Mueller agreed. "The Surface Pro 3 is selling just as well as it did when it first came out. Even though people expected a June or July release for the Pro 4, it probably won't happen until Windows 10 is released. That way, Microsoft could capitalize on both Windows 10 and the new Surface Pro at the same time," Mueller was quoted in the report saying.

Motley Fool said in its report that the new device would just be an "enhanced version" of its predecessor Surface Pro 3 as its processors would be the only thing to be upgraded. But in a separate report, it noted of the possibility of the laplet being LTE-capable. According to BGR, the Surface Pro 4 is expected to be available in two size options -- a 12-inch one and a 14-inch one. It is said to be available with an Intel Core i5 processor or with a Core i7 processor. RAM is expected to be at 16GB. Microsoft has yet to confirm these reports.
