It's been three years since "Mass Effect 3" arrived, and, judging by such a lengthy gestational period, the fourth title's release must be near. Those teasers of the upcoming "Mass Effect 4" must also be a sign that this waiting period must be nearing its end.
Recently, Bioware's Senior Development Director Chris Wynn has announced that the company has reached a "milestone" in the development of the upcoming iteration.
"Another milestone officially done for Mass Effect. On to the next one!" he said, as quoted by Gaming Bolt.
Some of you may be wondering how many of those milestones the developers have to hurdle before they can finally finish the game. While no word has been said about this, the people at Bioware are not against updating fans on what's going on in their efforts to finish the much-anticipated sequel.
Jos Hendriks, one of the developer's staffers, had reportedly confirmed that "the game won't be coming out on last gen consoles."
"He also acknowledged that the new hardware has given them more to work with but it really does not affect his day to day activities," the site added.
Meanwhile, Michael Gambler, a Bioware producer, said that the milestones completed "allow the developers to play through a majority of the game and make adjustments as necessary," as noted by Ecumenical News.
As what his colleagues had done, he teased the developments of the game by teasingly saying this, "It's almost like we are building a real game or something."
Needless to say, the people at Bioware definitely know how to keep fans on their toes and extend their patience.
Ecumenical News went on to report that "Mass Effect 4" will only be released "on next generation consoles such as the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the PC, and not on portable devices such as the PS Vita," with Wynn also noting that the combat system is "looking good."
While no release date has been announced, it's been speculated that the fourth iteration is likely to be launched next year.
"As with all games, unforeseen delays can potentially push back the project, but the encouraging updates provided by the developers in recent times should be reassuring for fans of the series," Ecumenical News observed.
It can be recalled that, last month, Bioware, through "Mass Effect 4" creative director Mac Walters, had polled gamers, asking them the following question: "What new feature, system or gameplay would you add to the next MassEffect ?"
"Since then a number of users have asked for a number of features including the ability to add flying shuttles, more exploration and armor variation," Gaming Bolt said in previous piece.
Will those suggestions be incorporated in the upcoming title? We'll know in a couple of months.
