The next generation o the iPod Touch is said to be water-resistant. The news comes from Master Herald claiming that while this is a "not-so-special feature" due to the number of devices that already has the same capability, this development is still note-worthy because the music gadget itself is unique.
"The Apple Watch for instance is water-resistant but it is very common for many timepieces to have the same capability. And so are some other current mobile devices. But looking at the present and even recent roster of music and media player devices, it would be nearly improbable to identify one that has the water-resistant feature, which makes the Apple iPod Touch 6th Generation truly unique," the news outlet said. It also said that the next iPod Touch 6th Generation would come out in September this year.
We earlier reported that the release date of the new iPod Touch was first scheduled last year. We cited a separate report from Master Herald which said that Apple may actually have launched the new iPod Touch 6th Generation in September 2014. However, it did not push through with it since Apple really wanted to showcase a "perfect music device" which will definitely outshine its other predecessors.
Gospel Herald meanwhile laid down several other release date speculations. It said that there were also rumors that the next iPod Touch 6th Gen would come out in October. It also cited Venture Capital Post which said that the device won't come out this year since Apple has just released the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus and the music device is not the firm's priority at the moment.
Gospel Herald also cited other reasons for the delay in the release. It said that the recent Apple Watch launch may have delayed the release of the 6th Gen iPod Touch. It also took note of the "changing tastes within the targeted teen market." Plus it also noticed that Apple CEO Tim Cook did not mention the much-speculated music device during the February 2015 quarterly financial call.
Aside from the water resistant rumor, the next iPod Touch 6th Gen is also said to have a Touch ID fingerprint sensor. It is also said that it will get the new Apple Pay. It is expected to come in 32 GB and 64 GB versions. It is said to be available in space gray, pink, red, silver, red, blue, and yellow. As for the camera, the music device is rumored to get an 8-megapixel one.
Master Herald said it is expected that the device would come out in two display size variants - a 4.7-inch screen size version and a 5.5-inch display size. They are both expected to get Retina display. The news outlet also said it is likely that it would feature Siri, the digital assistant found on most iPhones. It is also said to get the next iOS 9. The price of the next iPod Touch is said to start at $250.
