A recent report from Kpopstarz has revealed that the release date of the much-awaited "Kingdom Hearts 3" might be delayed and that it won't come out this year. The news outlet said that the delay was due to the recent death of voice actors Leonard Nimoy and Chikao Otsuka. This news was also backed by an Air Herald report.
"The last information we got about the game's development status is that the team had officially switched to the Unreal Engine in the middle of the game's development. This most likely means that 'Kingdom Hearts 3' will see some delays. It is very uncommon for a game to switch game engines in the middle of development, and it usually is accompanied by a delay with the games release date.
"The last mainline game in the series was 'Kingdom Hearts 2', which was released in 2005. It will most likely be over a decade since there has been a main Kingdom Hearts game released in the series. There have been several other Kingdom Hearts games released since 'Kingdom Hearts 2'," to quote Air Herald.
Despite the rumored delay, Kpopstarz said it is believed that a trailer for "Kingdom Hearts 3" would still come out in the 2015 D23 Expo in Anaheim this August and that other games are also expected to be announced. Among these major titles are "Dragon Quest Heroes" and "Final Fantasy Type-0 HD," as revealed by Square Enix President Yosuke Matsuda via Siliconera.
"In 2015, I believe we will offer a vast number of high-end games in both the domestic market and overseas. Now that we've already announced Final Fantasy XV, we will also reveal information on [another] JRPG. I believe we have a bit of a surprise in store for this year...I can't say much for now, but it's a JRPG for consoles," Matsuda said.
"Of course, we'll have plenty to show off at Tokyo Game Show...In addition, this year we'll release titles for arcades and PC as well. We're especially putting effort into PC online games, and we're thinking about developments for consoles, too. In the midst of that, we're also putting energy into games eSports-like games, smartphone games, and live-type multiplayer games."
Meanwhile, Hypable listed six Disney Worlds which fans like to see in the upcoming "Kingdom Hearts 3" game. The list includes Manhattan, New York which is the home of many huge characters like Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Spider-Man and The X-Men; Highlands, Scotland which is the setting of the Pixar movie "Brave"; Game Central Station, Litwak's Arcade from "Wreck It Ralph"; Arendelle, Norway from "Frozen"; Lucky Cat Cafe, San Fransokyo from "Big Hero 6"; and DS-1, Despayre from "Star Wars."
Earlier, we also reported of other worlds allegedly in the new game. When do you think "Kingdom Hearts 3" would come out? Do you think the developers can still push for a 2015 date or will it really be put off for next year? Amazon has somewhat revealed earlier that the new game would officially be available on PS4 and Xbox One this December 31.
