The Samsung Galaxy S3 was the most popular smartphone of the year - that is until the iPhone 5 came along. Even after, it's held its own, but some consumers do feel that the 4.8-inch display is a bit too big for them, which is why Samsung is coming out with the Galaxy S3 Mini, a weaker and smaller version of the Galaxy S3. The handset was recently revealed on October 11, and now it looks like we finally have a U.K. release date.
Website KnowYourMobile alerts us to the fact that Expansys is stating a November 8 release date for the white version of the phone. The blue Galaxy S3 Mini should be hitting around November 23. You can pre-order the unlocked smartphone for £315.
Pre-orders began the day after the October 11 unveiling, with Clove Technology and Phones4U both jumping the gun back on October 12.
The U.K.'s Clove Technology lists the unlocked Galaxy S3 Mini for £248 and for £299 including VAT. You can choose between white or blue models, but keep in mind that the white one is supposed to ship on November 8, with the blue one coming out around November 26.
Retailer Phones4U lists Galaxy S3 Minis through carriers, and has a ship date for the white Galaxy S3 Mini of November 11. The handset will come free with a two-year contract. Vodafone's plan starts at £25, Orange at £29, and O2 at £36.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini comes with a 4-inch Super AMOLED display and a 1GHz dual-core processor. It will also have a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a VGA front cam.
The specs show that it is a mid-range smartphone, far weaker than the powerful Galaxy S3, but unlike the Galaxy S3, which is waiting for its Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update, the Galaxy S3 Mini will come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean right out of the box.
Will you be buying the Galaxy S3 Mini?
