Korea Times has confirmed that the much-awaited LG G4 will indeed come out next month. The news outlet reported that the April unveiling of the new LG flagship phone would indeed happen this April following recent statements of LG mobile division chief Cho Juno.
Note that we earlier reported that Android Origin has predicted that the new device's arrival would happen a month after the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona this March.
Juno reportedly said that the new device would be "radically different" from its predecessor, the LG G3. What does this mean exactly?
"LG said the G4 will be radically different from the G3. It will have major overhaul in surface design and deliver significant improvements in user-experience (UX)...The G4 will also have a metal-mixtured body, and is expected to be released next month. Such improvements could help LG to again become the world's No. 3 smartphone manufacturer, a position that it lost to China's Xiaomi last year," to quote Korea Times' report.
Juno was quoted in the Korea Times report saying that the LG UX 4.0 would be announced before the LG G4. He said he thinks it is "simply the best."
The LG official, without hesitations, also commended Samsung for its recently unveiled Galaxy S6. He said the fellow Korean electronics giant did a "very good job" with it.
"I believe our G4 will also be good. With higher expectations, LG put huge resources into the LG G4...We are aiming to become the world's third-largest smartphone manufacturer this year in terms of annual sales. LG Electronics will be aggressive in promoting the G4 in major target markets such as Korea and the United States," he added.
To lessen expenses and to "cut independence" from processor maker Qualcomm, Juno revealed that the firm is now making its own mobile processors for its next generation of devices and they have spent a lot of money in it.
"Producing our own mobile application chips is very important. As LG Electronics has been consistent in developing these, we plan to gradually incorporate into our new models...We do have a lot of issues that need to be addressed, but second- and third-generation processors will be much better," he said.
The LG G4 is expected to be a 5.7 incher HD display phone with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. It is said to get a 16-megapixel main camera and a 5.1-megapixel selfie shooter. It is expected to come out with the latest Android L 5.0 Lollipop update. GSM Dome meanwhile says its would be a 5.3 incher phone with a stylus pen. It is expected to have a 4 GB of RAM.
