Finally, Rockstar has gone round to announcing the release of the much-anticipated Heists for "GTA 5" Online. Forbes' Paul Tassi relayed that the studio will be releasing the game on March 10, although the PC version will be coming " a little over a month later on April 14th."
"As an apology to PC players for the lengthy delay (the new date means the PC release has been pushed back again), players who have held on to dusty pre-order receipts for years now will be granted $200,000 bonus cash in-game. And Rockstar says the wait will be worth it," the news source revealed.
"A bit more time is needed to ensure that the game is as polished as possible, and to make certain that both Heists and the GTA Online experience are ready to roll out on day one for PC," Rockstar explained on its official site.
"The PC version of Grand Theft Auto V is our most graphically and technically advanced version yet, fully optimized to support a broad range of current hardware (system specifications) and features a host of PC-specific enhancements including greater levels of detail, deep configuration options and ultra-high-definition support - as well as the powerful new Rockstar Editor for recording, staging and editing original custom videos," the GTA creator said.
This, no doubt, has fans squirming in excitement. Sounds like the wait isn't that much of a pain, if the game does deliver as promised.
The release of Heists for GTA Online has been delayed since last year. Polygon recalled that Rockstar had said the title would be coming out in 2014.
"In April 2014, the company said online heists were scheduled for a spring release, but in June it pushed the window back," the site said. "Rockstar's next update came in mid-November, when the company said it would launch online heists 'soon' after the PS4 and Xbox One versions of 'GTA 5.'"
"And in December, Rockstar delayed the launch into 'early 2015,'" Polygon added.
Will Rockstar postpone the release yet again as the promised date nears?
"I don't think Rockstar will push it back again this time," Tassi opined. "When Rockstar takes eons to make something, the end result is usually pretty great."
It is not hard to understand why online heists took this long to be done, as it's considered "the single-player campaign's most complex, multifaceted, exhilarating missions," as Polygon pointed out.
