Recent reports are saying that Japanese electronics giant Sony would be releasing not only one but at least two new smartphones this March. The news comes from Xperia Blog which detailed that the two new devices would be the mid-range handset Xperia M4 Aqua and the huge Xperia Z4 Tablet.
Little has been known about the Xperia M4 Aqua. However, the term "aqua" suggests that is would be again water-resistant, a feature known in some Sony handsets. A leaked image showed that the device would be getting the new Android L 5.0 Lollipop update. It has the software version "26.1.A.0.xxx."
Phone Arena noted that Xperia M4 Aqua would be Xperia M2 Aqua's successor. It also said that the device would have LTE-connectivity and is expected to have the "highest levels of waterproofing available on a smartphone: IP68 - meaning it can survive underwater up to 1 meter for more than 30 minutes."
Before the Xperia M4 Aqua speculation, there was a teaser for the Xperia Z4 Tablet spotted at the official Xperia Lounge application. However, it was immediately pulled out.
"Sony is now introducing the new Xperia Z4 Tablet: Sony's stunning 2K display combined with the latest ultra fast processor and industry leading battery performance delivers unrivalled entertainment in a lightweight premium," the teaser said.
Xperia Blog notes that the tablet looks like the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. It added that the device might just be its 10-inch version. It said that it might be revealed by March 2 though the leaked photo lists March 3, 2015 as its date.
Another photo from Xperia Blog showed that the Xperia Z4 Tablet would be getting the new Android L 5.0 Lollipop update as its operating system. It will have the software version "28.0.A.0.xxx."
These two new Sony Xperia phones are expected to come out during the Mobile World Congress. Aside from Sony, Samsung and HTC are expected to unveil their latest phones, the rumored Galaxy S6 and One M9, respectively. Sony's next flagship phone, the rumored Xperia Z4, on the other hand, might be announced on a a later date, maybe this summer. The exchange of emails between Sony execs have allegedly revealed that that device would be unveiled this May or November.
The Sony Xperia Z4 is expected to come out in a 5.4 or 5.5 inch screen display, reports the International Business Times. It is expected to get the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor as well as the Android 5.0 Lollipop update as OS. It will also boast of its 20.7 megapixel main camera and 4.8 megapixel front shooter. It is seen to come with a 32GB internal memory and 4GB RAM. It is also likely that it will get a 3420 mAh battery and will get a wireless charging feature.
