LG G4 Release Date, Specs & Price: Device Coming Out This April?

Will the new LG G4 officially be unveiled this April? LG might have a different plan set in mind. It has been revealed that LG might not be taking the same steps as Samsung and HTC which are both reportedly planning to unveil their respective new flagship device this March during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Android Origin notes that the launch date of the new LG flagship device has been set a month after this big event. It noted that it is therefore expected that LG's MWC presence would be "minor."

The news outlet also says that the new LG G4 would be the firm's second smartphone to get the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. Note that the first LG device to get the said chips is the recently unveiled LG G Flex 2. Android Origin also downplayed earlier reports that claim that the new device would come out this May to continue its usual May release date pattern.

"The point of LG's flagship launch is to interfere with Samsung and Apple. Samsung releases its flagship usually during the first quarter of each year, and this time it will be at the MWC, whereas Apple usually puts their flagship out in the second quarter. If LG launches their device within this timeframe, they will make quite a splash and interfere with their competition," Android Origin explained.

This is also backed by a Phone Arena report confirming that the new device would indeed not be unveiled during the event. "LG Electronics decided not to release the G4 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) exhibition in Barcelona in March...It may release it in April...Samsung usually releases its new flagship model in the first quarter of each year, and Apple in the second quarter. We need some in-between time to make a bigger splash," the report said citing Korean publication Korean Times. Phone Arena also cited another unknown "LG exec" who told them that the firm has decided not to unveil the new device as it is still "perfecting" it.

Now for the specs. LG has not yet revealed or confirm any rumors. Accordind to Christian Today, the new device would be a 5.7 inches phone with HD display resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. It will also get a 16-megapixel main shooter and a 5.1-megapixel front camera. It is expected the latest Android L 5.0 Lollipop update. GSM Dome meanwhile says its would be a 5.3 incher phone with a stylus pen. It is also expected that the new device would get a 4 GB of RAM.
