Samsung is holding an event tomorrow, October 11, that has everyone expecting a Galaxy S3 Mini smartphone. Evidence has been piling up, but now we finally have confirmation from Samsung, and some specs to boot.
"There's a lot of demand for a 4-inch screen device in Europe. Some may call it an entry-level device, but we call it 'mini'," said Samsung Mobile chief JK Shin to the Korean media.
"Galaxy S III mini will come with 4-inch display and we are going to unveil the product tomorrow (Oct 11th)," Samsung told TheVerge.
TheVerge also reports that the Galaxy S3 Mini won't be an entry-level device, but rather a high-end smartphone. This may be true, but it certainly won't be as powerful as the Galaxy S3, or the iPhone 5, if the newly-leaked specs from MobileGeeks are true.
The Galaxy S3 Mini will be sporting a 4-inch Super AMOLED WGVA display with a resolution of 480X800. It will feature a 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, and 16GB internal memory with a 32GB microSD slot. The Galaxy S3 Mini comes a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a VGA front cam.
The Galaxy S3 Mini will also hit the ground running with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, something most Galaxy S3s around the world do not.
MobileGeeks reports that the price of the Galaxy S3 Mini, according to their sources, is €399.
The Galaxy S3 Mini is clearly a smaller, less powerful cousin of the Galaxy S3, but it's display size and Jelly Bean operating system make it a compelling alternative for those looking for a solid 4-inch smartphone alternative to the iPhone 5.
