Sprint announced Tuesday that it's offering four new devices, due out this fall.
The "New Fab Four," as they're being called, are the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1-in tablet, the LG Optimus G smartphone, the LG Mach and the Sprint Plug-in Connect Tri-mode USB 2.0.
Sprint noted the devices will have on-device encryption and VPN access to ensure secure business uses, according to Computer World.
Sprint said in a press release that the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 is first tablet to combine the benefits of Sprint 3G and 4G LTE with a vivid 10.1-inch touchscreen display, Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich and a 1.5GHz dual-core processor.
The Tab 2 10.1 has two cameras, a rear-facing 3-megapixel camera with LED flash and video capture for taking pictures and a front-facing VGA camera for Face Unlock and video chat. Additionally, Sprint said in its release that it has an on-device encryption and VPN access ensure the tablet is secure for business use. The 7,000 mAh battery keeps the devices connected throughout the day, and the 3G/4G LTE mobile hotspot capability supports up to 10 Wi-Fi enabled devices simultaneously.
The LG Optimus G is the latest "superphone" from LG Electronics. It combines the Sprint 4G LTE Network with the power of Qualcomm's Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU quad-core processor.
Computer World said it has a 4.7-in., 1280-x-768-pixel display and features a Snapdragon S 4 Pro quad-core processor as well as a 13-mega pixel, rear-facing camera. It also has 32GB of internal memory
The Optimus G also has a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, Time Catch Shot, which allows users to choose their favorite photo before the shutter button is pressed, and a "cheese shutter," which allows users to take a photo just by saying "cheese."
The LG Mach features Spring ID, which allows users to sort through apps by selecting a variety of mobile ID packs. The phone contains a qwerty keyboard and a 5-mega pixel camera.
The last of the quartet is the Sprint Plug-in Connect Tri-mode USB device, which operates as an Ethernet cable. It can be plugged into any laptop or device, and supports transitions between Spring 3G CDMA, 4G LTE and WiMax networks, the article concludes.
Prices for the devices have not been announced.
Sprint said 4G LTE is available in 24 cities and is expected to be I more than 100 additional cities in coming months.
