The debate as to which smartphone is better, the Apple iPhone 5 or the Samsung Galaxy S3, seems to have no end in sight, with each side claiming victories in different categories. But there is one thing iPhone 5 users have been able to say - at least I can get mine with 64GB. Now Galaxy S3 fans can say the same, as a black 64GB Galaxy S3 variant has begun showing up through European retailers.
The 64GB version was spotted through several Italian retailer sites by AndroidAuthority, including ePrice and Marcopolo for the price of €799. That's roughly $1040. Keep in mind this is for an unlocked, contract-free handset, which always runs more than the prices in the United States with a standard two-year contract.
It seems that AmazonGermany also has the 64GB Galaxy S3 listed for around €704, or $912.
This is good news for those looking to purchase an Android smartphone this fall, as the Galaxy S3 also supports up to 64GB more through its microSD slot, allowing for a whopping total of 128GB. If you've used Android, you know memory can get eaten up pretty fast, so extra storage is always welcome.
Those of us in the United States will have to wait and see if Samsung will bring the 64GB variant over the waters. It only seems natural, but keep in mind the international Galaxy S3 is a different model than the U.S. Galaxy S3. Internationally, the Galaxy S3 sports a quad-core processor, while the U.S. version features a dual-core. This means Samsung has to work on making another 64GB variant, so we'll have to see how long it takes for that to happen.
What U.S. consumers can expect is a number of new colors for the Galaxy S3, with black and brown heading to Verizon soon.
